Privacy & Analytics

This site is a statically generated personal website. It does not use advertising, does not sell personal data, and does not embed third-party trackers. This page documents exactly what is collected and why — and how browser preferences are stored.

Web Analytics (Vercel Web Analytics)

Page views are measured with Vercel Web Analytics, the analytics service built into the hosting platform. It is intentionally minimal:

  • No cookies. Vercel Web Analytics does not use cookies. Cookie absence alone does not establish an exemption from consent requirements.
  • Anonymous statistics. According to Vercel, recorded analytics data points are anonymous and used for aggregated statistics.
  • No cross-site tracking. Vercel documents request-derived visitor hashes, with visitor sessions discarded after 24 hours and no tracking across websites.
  • Aggregate only. Vercel documents an aggregated dashboard showing top pages, referrers, countries, devices, and browsers — never individual visitors.

What Is Stored In Your Browser

Two preferences are kept in localStorage so the site remembers them between visits. They never leave your device and are strictly necessary for the site to work as intended:

  • puppo-theme — light or dark theme choice.
  • puppo-reading-size — larger reading size preference for long articles.

Clearing your browser storage removes both. They are never transmitted to the server.

Hosting & Third Parties

  • The site is hosted on Vercel, which serves the static build and processes the request data described above.
  • Articles are syndicated to Hashnode and Dev.to. Those platforms have their own privacy policies and may set their own cookies when you visit them.
  • Social links (GitHub, LinkedIn, YouTube, X) are plain outbound links — no embeds, no pixels, no SDKs. The same applies to the RSS feed and every LLMs.txt endpoint.

Your Choices

For details, see Vercel’s privacy documentation. Consent requirements depend on applicable law and the configured processing; cookieless analytics alone does not settle that assessment. Using a content blocker can prevent the analytics script from loading; the site keeps working exactly the same way.
